Cross Country via Instagram: Day One

March 10, 2012 @ 5:22am
And so the journey begins...

March 10, 2012 @ 1:19pm - Buffalo, New York
We're leaving the biggest thrift store I've ever been to just now. Picked up some cassette tapes and a shark shirt. Earlier we had lunch at Spot Coffee with Nick's friend Ryan and his girlfriend.

Biggest thrift store I've ever been to.

March 10, 2012 @ 4:49pm - somewhere outside of Cleveland, Ohio
Ohio smells weird. We stopped for gas and drinks. The pump had a tv on it. I took a turn driving for a bit, but mostly Nick has been behind the wheel. Drivers here are not aggressive and they go super slow.

Twitter: 5:02 PM // Almost 12 hours on the road. Nearing Cleveland, Ohio.

Cleveland, Ohio was smaller than I expected.
Twitter: 5:59pm // Yep. Ohio is really flat.

March 10, 2012 @ 7:05pm - Toledo, Ohio
Yep. We're still in Ohio. This place is weird. And flat. Really flat. The sunsets are pretty here, though. The sky is my favorite color right now. Oh and the speed limit here is 70mph.

Facebook check in: Flying J Truck Stop - Toledo, OH // March 10 at 7:10pm in Perrysburg, OH

Twitter: 8:55pm // Just realized it's 8:55...we traveled back in time an hour.

Ohio is flat. That's a fact.
Ohio is good for sunsets.

I have new hair again

Untitled

I may not have a home yet, but at least I have some cool new hair colors. This time around it's a mix of blonde and red. I used two different boxes. Light auburn and super blonde by L'Oreal Paris. Whatcha think? And see... being homeless isn't that bad (minus the hours and hooooours I spend alone in my car). I still dye my hair and paint my nails. I'm only a couple hundred dollars away from my dream apartment. Almost there!

So much to say...

Wow. It's been over a month since I've posted last. I feel like so much has happened. Where should I even begin? Well... After six days in the car and a little over 3,000 miles I made it to Portland. Shortly after arriving I started the new position I transferred out here with. A month flew by and I was still sleeping on a couch. A friend and I drove out here together, but we've recently parted ways. So basically I'm homeless and searching my butt off for an apartment I can afford on my own. Nothing has really gone according to plan, but I'm not really complaining. I just keep telling myself it could always be worse. I have a job, a car, some awesome co-workers, and a lot of my blog friends have reached out to help me in this tough situation. I'm definitely keeping a positive attitude. And you know what? I've realized how strong I really am. Everyone and everything I know is on the other side of the country and I'm alone, but I'm okay. Eventually things will settle down and I'll be able to relax.

So, I'll leave you with some pictures I've taken on Instagram since I've been out here. Do you have an Instagram? Let's be friends! My username is artich0ke :]
